“Voices of Solidarity” – An Educational Card Game for Empathy, Collaboration, and Community Action
Within the framework of the Building Community Links project, an innovative educational card game titled “Voices of Solidarity” has been developed as part of the project’s learning materials.
The game is designed to support the development of key social and civic competencies by engaging participants in interactive, team-based learning. Through a structured yet flexible format, it encourages players to explore real-life community challenges, reflect on shared values, and collaboratively develop meaningful solutions.
How does the game work?
“Voices of Solidarity” combines three types of cards:
- Challenge cards presenting real societal issues
- Value cards highlighting core human and social values such as empathy, dialogue, and courage
- Resource cards offering tools, strengths, and support systems that can be used to address the challenges
Participants work in small groups, using the cards as a starting point to analyze situations, exchange perspectives, and co-create practical solutions. The process is guided by coaching questions that deepen reflection and support constructive dialogue.
Educational value
The game promotes:
- Empathy and intercultural understanding
- Teamwork, communication, and dialogue
- Creative problem-solving and critical thinking
- Awareness of how values can be translated into real-life action
It creates a safe and inclusive space where participants can express ideas, listen to others, and build solutions together.
Application and impact
“Voices of Solidarity” is highly adaptable and can be used in a variety of educational contexts, including:
- Non-formal education workshops
- Youth work and civic education activities
- Erasmus+ and international training programs
- Intercultural learning environments
By transforming learning into an interactive and participatory experience, the game supports the development of active, responsible, and engaged individuals who are ready to contribute positively to their communities.
Through this tool, the Building Community Links project reinforces the idea that solidarity is not just a concept but a practice that begins with dialogue, understanding, and collective action. Check out the web page: www.feriplatform.org.pl
